The very first thing I tried essential oils for was when we threw away the beloved Pacifier three weeks before Makayla’s Third Birthday! She was addicted, guys. I mean, seriously. She would cry and cry for it all.the.time. and we were tired of hearing it so we just let her have it. It was bad, really bad, I mean she used it pretty much constantly at home, in the car, during naps, and night times. I know pacifiers are bath for tooth development, and I know how hard the habit is to break, so we were definitely dreading this day!
Makayla had a dentist appointment on a Thursday last month, and her Dentist, Dr. Warner (who is awesome!) really showed us how the Paci has done a number on her little mouth. She has an open gap, her two top teeth do not come all the way down, and she has a strong overbite. Dr. Warner told her that she needed to throw away her Paci’s, and she said Okay!
We went out to breakfast after her appointment and we decided to do it then & there.
Here is a little video:
That night sucked, big time. I seriously had no idea how we were going to get through this. So, I remembered my friend Nicole telling me about how some oils can promote relax and rest. I rubbed Cedarwood and Peace & Calming on her hands and feet.
She calmed down instantly! Not to mention she fell asleep within 10 minutes. Bedtime struggles have been 1+ hour long recently (and that was with the Paci!). Guys, the next morning, she woke up, and said something along the lines of “I’m a big girl now, no more paci, so I have to wear big girl underpants too, no more pull ups”. And she’s 99% potty trained now!
Today is her third birthday. I’m so proud of her. There is no way we could have done this transition so smoothly without the help of oils!
